The caption of Fig. 2.11 (b) should read “….  At t = 4, the diffusion distance = …”

Question 8b should read “Show that there are 12 such sites per unit cell**”.

The footnote should be revised to read as follows:

When we plot the solar energy flux per unit wavelength range versus wavelength, the solar power spectrum has a broad maximum around 460 nm (bluish green), with appreciable intensity from 400 to 800 nm.  Nature understands this very well with the proliferation of chlorophyll-based (green) vegetation. This broad maximum encompasses the two absorption bands of chlorophyll around 450 and 650 nm.  It is interesting to speculate how plant life would evolve if the sun became hotter over time.

The human body is not 100% efficient in converting chemical (food) energy into mechanical work.  With 20% efficiency, Bryan Allen burned about 10 million Joules of energy, or about 2500 Cal

This is probably a good place to talk about the difference between cis- and trans-fat, a subject of current interest.  Trans-fat molecules are straight and can be more densely packed.  This results in increased attractive interactions between these molecules, thereby raising the melting temperature (> 37 C).  This is a classic example of function following form.

The referred equation should be (10.4).

FIGURE 7.13  Crystallized fraction versus time at different temperatures.  At lower temperatures (but not too low as to freeze motion of polymer chains), the rate of crystallization increases due to larger thermodynamic driving forces for crystallization.
